Normita "Bing" Rio - Pablico
Bing graduated from the Consevatory of St. Scholastica's College, Manila in 1992 with the degree of Bachelor of Music Major in Piano and Music Education. Bing's versatility in music quenched the growing crave of musically inclined Louisians to pursue their crafts when she entered the Center for Culture and the Arts of Saint Louis university as Pianist in 1993 and as Trainer of The Saint Louis University Glee Club in 1997. Today, she continues to be the Conductor/Trainer of the group and is Music Coordinator to the Center for Culture and the Arts. The group she has been handling proved a never degenerated regard of musical entity. It was in the year 2005 when the fruits of her laborius effort was reaped. The SLU Glee Club gave glory to the university upon leaving a legacy to the country for choral music excellence. The group, through her leadership, won the first place in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Manila in 2005. This feat brought her a Presidential Award from the SLU President, Rev. Father Jessie M. Hechanova, CICM.
Recently, she gained recognition in her writing proficiency when she, (together with her husband as lyricist) won the SLU Centennial Songwriting Competition as well as the Baguio Centennial Songwriting Competition. To add to that, her choral works are now being performed by world renowned choirs like the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Ateneo College Glee Club, University of San Agustin Troubadours, University of the Visayas Chorale and University of the East Chorale.
